John WHEELER (c.1780-1853), son of John WHEELER, a bondsman and Sarah MUNT, was born about 1780 in Shalfleet, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England. He was a Bricklayer or Stone Mason.
Sarah LINNINGTON, (c.1783-1848) daughter of Joseph and Sarah LINNINGTON, was baptised on 29 June 1783 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, England.
John and Sarah were married on 13 March 1801 in Northwood on the Isle of Wight.
In the 1841 Census, John aged 60 and Sarah aged 55 were living in South Street, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. John was working as a bricklayer. Living with them were their two youngest children, Elizabeth aged 15 and Richard aged 14.
Sarah died aged 65 of Disease of the Heart on 26 June 1848 in Yarmouth. Her husband John was the informant.
In the 1851 Census, John aged 72 was living at 113 Grove Rd, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, with his son-in-law, Thomas Murray aged 30 and his 7 year old grandson Henry T.W. Murray. John's occupation was recorded as Pauper.
John died aged 74 of Apoplexy lasting two days on 4 March 1853 in High St, Ventnor, Isle of Wight. The informant was Charlotte White of High St.
John WHEELER and Sarah LINNINGTON had the following children:
1. Ann Wheeler was born on 18 September 1803 and baptised on 2 October 1803 in Whippingham, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.
2. John Monk Wheeler was baptised on 15 Jun 1806 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. He married Elizabeth Harris on 25 August 1835 in St. Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire, England. He was a saddler. He died in 1879 in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England.
3. Barnabas Wheeler (known as Barney) was born about 1808 in Shalfleet, Isle of Wight and was baptised on 1 May 1808 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. He was an Agricultural Labourer. He married Ann Tross on 28 Mar 1828 at Chale, Isle of Wight. Barnabas died aged 78 in 1886 on the Isle of Wight.

5. Mary Wheeler was baptised on 12 Sep1813 in Yarmouth, Southampton, Isle of Wight.
6. Joseph Wheeler was baptised on 21 Apr 1816 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
7. Emma Wheeler was baptised on 4 Oct 1818 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
8. George Wheeler was baptised on 23 Apr 1820 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
9. Elizabeth Wheeler was born about 1824 in Isle of Wight.
10. Richard Linnington Wheeler was born on 27 Jul 1826 in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight and baptised on 26 Sep 1841 in Yarmouth. He was a bricklayer. Richard married Charlotte Andrews Willis in 1852. He died aged 84 in 1911 in the Isle of Wight Union Workhouse.
